Alexander Cold's mother has cancer and she has to travel to Texas for chemotherapy so his father decides to send Alex on a trip with his grandmother Kate to the Amazon. Kate is on an expedition to try to track down The Beast who is rumored to live in the jungle. It takes a long time for anything to happen in the story. This was a great story, I think my son would even like it. I didn't care as much for the writing style, though. I do, however, find myself wanting to read the next book in the series.

Read this for school and wrote an essay that turned out to be my best of that school time. The story is interesting and though there isn't much surprising twists I found it satisfying enough to read about the tribe and the moral issues.
