4.5 stars. After pushing this series on those close to me countless times, I had given up. Then my husband, out of the blue, decided to try it, needing something light for his commute. So we are reading it together.

Precious Ramotswe sets up a detective agency in the African country of Botswana, and in come the customers, all with a difficult problem for her to solve.
Simple as a children's story, but full of old wisdom.

The first volume in a pleasant and cute mystery series set in Botwana, featuring Precious Ramotswe, a female rookie P.I with good intuition and a strong personality. A lot of local touches (culture, food, language, customs, etc), but the writer tends to gloss over anything too "unpleasant," violent or upsetting.

This book gets the "honor" of being the very first book I gave a 1-star rating to on Goodreads. This book just dragged, going all over the place without ever seeming to get anywhere. There was no mystery and the characters weren't very exciting. Definitely not my cup of tea.
