For those of you who are my GR friends, or may simply read my reviews from time to time, you know about the difficult author-reader relationship that I have with Papa Hemingway. Last year, after a 20 year hiatus, I had a decent go with some short stories and a novella by Hemingway. I figured that I would keep going this year and try one of his longer books again.

It's been a long time since I've read this book but I was thinking about it lately so I wanted to write something now. First of all, I need to preface this with the fact that I love Hemingway. I know he's not for everyone, but The Sun Also Rises is one of my all time favorites. However, I'm not going to pretend that Hemingway didn't have his problems. I am finding it difficult to review or comment on this book. First of all, it is Hemingway and I feel woefully ill-equipped to comment or pass any kind of judgment on him or his writing. That being said, I was not impressed with the writing or the story line in this book. This is not my first or my last Hemingway. I loved The Sun Also Rises and some of his short stories.
