I read this book years ago, and this re-read is just as wonderful as the first. I am not a huge fan of short stories (the longer a book is, the better I like it), but I liked everyone of the stories in this book and highly recommend it.
I gave Namesake and Unaccustomed Earth 5 stars so i was expecting to be more impressed by her Pulitzer prize winning book. But i should have known by the title that these short stories were all about sadness. Many of the stories were about people who left India for New England and yet were lonely and missing their extended families. In some cases there was an arranged marriage also involved where the couple barely knew each other. She is a brilliant writer and I am amazed how much she can convey

I liked this book enough to consider reading her other works. Although each story contained something interesting, I found "This Blessed House" the funniest and "The Third & Final Continent" especially enduring. They were my favourite stories in the novel. I can't wait to read her next work.
