I'd heard so many good things about this collection that had there been anything I disliked about it, I would have been disappointed...but it completely lives up to its reputation. the writing is just so spot on. also, I'm not usually a short story fanatic, but these really utilize the format nicely. reading these stories made me want to write more often.

My favourites: "A Temporary Matter", - a couple who goes through a week of 'lights-out' in their house; "Mrs Sen" - a boy goes to his Indian babysitter, who hates learning how to drive; "The Third and Final Continent" - an immigrant boards with a 103-year-old lady for a short period of time.
