I really liked this one, I think I would rank it as my second favorite Hemingway novel just behind The Sun Also Rises. I liked this book for a few reasons, the first being that I actually learned a lot about the Spanish Civil War. It didn't go into that much detail but my knowledge of it was pretty limited so I feel like I gained something in terms of being a good history teacher. This book was quite good. For some reason this year I happened upon a lot of things about the spanish civil war, including the movie Pan's Labyrinth, which was quite good by the way! Anyways, this book gives an excellent perspective on what the war was like for the people and how it affected everyone. I liked it a lot more than The Sun Also Rises. The main thing that I liked is the description of the motives, thoughts, personalities and perspectives of each character.
