It is truly amazing, with all the vampire books I have been devouring lately, that it took me this long to read the one that kind of sets the standard for vampires.

A classic for a reason. Even though the letter-writing style slowed down the pace of the story significantly at the end, I still enjoyed this piece of suspenseful Gothic literature. Surprisingly sexy for Victorian times!
I found it interesting to read the book that started it all with vampires. The beginning of the book was strong and spooky but then it hit a major lull in the middle for me. I also found the showdown at the end of the book to be too brief considering everything that led up to it.
