My first Murakami, and I thought that it was great. The book was easy to read, complex and very gripping. I became caught up in the various characters and trying to figure out what was going on.

I am looking forward to reading more Murakami in the future.

This is an amazing book that affects you at different levels. The lines between dreams and reality are blurred in this book. Must read for a knock out experience.

Worth picking up even if you're not the type who normally goes for post-modern fiction. What I love about Murakami is that he captures the weirdness and the amorphous quality of highbrow fiction but makes it deeply accessible - he has no pretenses or desire to play the "I'm Smarter Than You" game. Instead, you just get something that's beautiful, lovely, and changes the way you think about your own life a little bit. ...more

I understand the polarizing effect this book has on reviewers. I was reminded of Alice In Wonderland in a WTH is going on way. Loads of symbolism and parallels. Definitely a book I need to think about more. With a glass of red.
