Though i could use this moment to defend my faith in agnosticism, and how it is not lacking in creativity (but perhaps more abundant in it than the rest of you lot~grasp that Horatio?) i think i've already made that point at least once or twice, besides which i might be taking some wind out of Yann Martel's marvelous sails if i were to attempt to do so (but give us agnostics a chance, dude). well here it is in the jist, it is a very good story, and it is well written but i couldn't help the thought that martel was just a bit too scattered... granted that the main charcter told the story that perhaps was not chronologically correct to his own recollection but what bothered me the most on the frist reading (yes, i am inclined to re read it) was the threads of the main segments of the story did not tie in toghether smoothly enough... it was as if martel (admittedly so) had written it i

I'm glad that I read this book, even though I didn't end up liking it that much. Martel is brilliant and I "get it", but I just didn't find it all that interesting. The ending was clever, which is why I gave this one 3 instead of 2 stars.
