Solid, quick read about a woman who is accused of killing her husband and then stops speaking. She is being treated by a psychotherapist who is determined to help her speak again. Some good twists and turns here.

So many people recommended this book. I have to admit the twist at the end was very clever and even though I knew there was something unexpected and tried to figure it out, I still didn’t see it. That part was masterful!

So why the poor rating? This book is filled with profanity, especially the F-word, it has casual and adulterous sex (not too much detail), and overall it is dark and sad. I wish the author had put his clever mind to something less twisted and pathological.
3.5 stars.

Wow! Finished another thriller today where I didn’t see the ending coming! Listened to this one on audio and it was a slow starter for me but by the time I got 1/3 in, I was hooked! Apparently the author was previously a screenwriter and you can tell, I think this would make a great movie or short series. I’ll definitely read more by Michaelides.
