Pretty decent account of McNamara's attempt to help law enforcement catch the Golden State Killer. Unfortunately, the book is choppy and skips around both geographically and chronologically, which made it difficult to follow at times. Maybe it was an easier read on paper than on audio. What can I say about this book? I was torn between devouring it all at once and savoring it, not wanting it to end. Not just because the writing is so compelling, but because I know there is no satisfactory ending, as the EAR/ONS serial rapist and killer is still unknown. Plus the author's untimely death means that we won't hear from her again on this subject and her obsessive and investigating sadly came to an abrupt ending. Wow! Wow! Wow! This may be the best true crime book I’ve ever read! McNamara is an amazing writer and manages to tell this horrific story in a way that honors the victims and investigators in the most caring way. It breaks my heart that we’ve lost this talented writer too soon. I hope she is watching this all unfold from heaven hollering “Gotcha GSK”!
