Interesting read about a psychologist who gets caught up in the intrigue involving a former patient. What I liked about the story was all of the great insights into what motivates people to do what they do. There's interesting information about Parkinson's, too, and it plays an important role in the story.

I believe that this series will be a different type of read within the genre. I am looking forward to reading more of the books in the future.

I'm not a huge fan of the "perfect life goes awry" setup generally, but this one does a better job than most within the structure's confines. The Parkinson's aspect is well-handled and offers a way for Robotham to keep his protagonist reasonably grounded. ...more

I think Robotham gets stronger in his later books in the series. His psychiatrist protagonist comes across decidedly whiny in this one.

Joseph O'Laughlin is a psychiatrist who has recently been diagnosed with Parkinsons Disease. Joseph becomes involved with the police investigation into a murdered woman whose body was found buried near a towpath. when it is discovered that the victim was a client of Jospeh's he becomes a suspect in her murder and works to clear his name before he is arrested. It took awhile for anything to happen in the book and the ending was a bit rushed but overall a good thriller. ...more
