I diagnosed myself as having scoliosis in jr. high from reading this book--but I thought I was getting carried away, being all wrapped up in the book's drama. Years later though, I found out I was right, although I did not have to wear a back brace like Deenie did. ...more

I loved reading Judy Blume as a young adult. She seemed to capture all of the feelings that girls (and boys) have at that age. Deenie, is no exception; I remember how much I felt for this teenager, pretty but faced with an issue that forced to take uncomfortable, and potentially unappealing, corrective measures.
