I really enjoyed The Red Tent and I was looking for a similar book, something that takes a woman barely mentioned in a famous, historical piece of literature and tells her story. Lavinia is the second wife of Aeneas, briefly mentioned in the Aeneid, and when I saw that LeGuin was the author, I thought I'd really hit the jackpot. At first I was disappointed. I really enjoyed this, particularly the depiction of the religious life of the Latins, the lovely lyrical language, and the exploration of the concept that we're all stories, in the end (thanks, Steven Moffat).
