I saw the movie, Lion, a few years ago and it provides an excellent adaptation of Saroo's story. Even so, I found the book to be excellent in its own right. Saroo's story is an amazing one. It's full of luck, love, hope and perseverance as Saroo tries to find his family after losing them over 20 years previously when he accidentally falls asleep on a train that takes him hundreds of miles away from home. I don’t know if it was the writing or the audio narrator but I found this book to be not very emotionally compelling. Odd given it’s subject matter. I watched the movie a couple days after I finished the book and I think the film did a much better job of capturing the emotions. In the book, everything seemed like it wasn’t such a big deal.
