I love this book!!!! It's warm and heartbreaking at the same time. But when a tragedy happens to her dog, Rain, during a hurricane - things are getting a bit out of control for Rose.
Ann M Martin, as always, can portray her character in the most relatable way, just as she's done in her other books. The ending is very bittersweet ...more

A couple of thoughts:
**At the end of the read aloud my 11-year-old asked, "That's it?" I think we both became so attached to Rose and her story we wanted to hear more. Surely we wanted to know what happened at her next visit to Happy Tails. :-)
**This is a quick, but emotionally charged read with so many sweet, sad and scary moments. We loved Rose, Weldon, Rain and Parvani. Rose's dad terrified us.
Two thumbs up for this middle grade book!
