What a fascinating and odd book this is. I’ll have to sit with it for a little bit to gather my thoughts. But I can certainly say that it’s an impressive piece of writing for someone who was - what? 22 years old?
My final thought were that I didn’t think the novel quite worked, in terms of the ideas and the presentation, but the prose were great and I did feel fairly involved with the characters.

A talent-laden debut by young, hotshot writer Catton. I enjoyed the book and found many of the phrases insightful, but the ending was a bit post-modern for my taste. Great first book though. She should only get better.
