My lone star is not due to author's writing. It's just that I have never liked 1,001 Nights. I read several of its stories as a child. I gave it another try during my college years. And thought I would definitely like a "retelling" but the stories are just obnoxious to me.

Skillful retelling of 1.001 Nights. Described on the cover of my edition as "ribald" - indeed it is no holds barred. But also sophisticated and intriguing.
