This is one of the best things I've read all year. It is my new favorite book. So smart and funny, I read it with--I swear--a real smile on my face the entire time AND I laughed out loud. That might have had something to do with the small kitten I have who fell asleep upside down on my shoulder while I was reading it but not entirely. I want to own this book (mine came from the library) and to give it to everyone I know, especially any children I know. Hmm...

Clever--almost "glib" little book about the insane world of childhood. I'm listening to it--only 3 hours so I'll be done fast. The kind of kids story that adults enjoy--wicked, honest humor. I can see teachers rubbing their hands in glee at the vast vocabulary, then dreading assigning it due to THAT FAMILY who will protest it's content.

This book is full of ironies and dark humor, some of them are funny but some are just too much. It mocks the way old fashioned fairy tales with old fashion characters and predictable stories work in old fashioned books. Quite entertaining and amusing, but pretty forgettable compare to other Lois Lowry's books. It's as if she's written this book only for her entertainment before producing another masterpiece :D

Fun parody, but I laughed and smiled at the jokes more than the kids. Or maybe at different ones--they just think A & B's middle names are hilarious.
