This is a beautifully written story. Her writing is quite poetic and very pictorial. At times you just feel transported to the Assamese country side. I thoroughly enjoyed the setting in northern India in the early and mid 1940's, even if that was just in the background. The reader gets to learn so much about Assam and workings of tea plantations in that region.
