Update: We have since read it again and also listened to the audiobook (read by the author) and both of the children enjoyed it very much. The audiobook is especially charming with E. B. White's strong New York accent. His pronunciation of "Wilbah" gets me everytime!

My mother read this out loud to me when I was six years old. I still remember how magical that was. I also enjoyed the TV movie with Templeton singing "A fair is a veritable smorgasbord...after the lights are low..."
