In my review of Book One (for which I've taken many pot shots from readers who feel my opinions are wrong) I said that I wouldn't be reading Book Two because I don't like being played for a sucker, and the cliffhanger ending played me big time.

Well, I'm eating those words. I just read Book Two, and of course this time I went in knowing that it was part of a series and OF COURSE it would end in a cliff-hanger moment, so I wasn't disappointed when I read it.

Why did I read it? Because my daughter r

I read The Hunger Games at the behest of my first daughter, the first person in our family to read Suzanne Collins' trilogy and fall in love with it. So I read it. And I liked it. I didn't fall in love with it, however, largely because YA is not, generally speaking, my cup of tea. And, to my daughter's horror and amazement, I didn't continue onward with the series.

Not as gory as Hunger Games, but far too many girly outfits described. Fashion doesn't bore Katniss as much as she claims. Also, I'm not fond of the cliffhanger ending.

I got this book on a borrow in my free trial of Amazon Prime. Otherwise, I wouldn't have read it.

A good follow-up to Hunger Games. These are quick reads, but still thought-provoking. The subject matter is pretty intense, especially for YA fiction.

This was my favorite of the series. A quick (frantic) read as you have to know what comes next.
