Pretties by Scott Westerfeld begins after Tally's had her operation. Her mind has been wiped of her days outside of society. She though has this nagging feeling that something has changed. When she's shown the letter she wrote to herself she's shocked at how much she's lost. At the same time, though, she's not sure she wants to go back.

Tally is finally pretty, but she feels like something might still be missing. She isn't as easy to please as the other pretties. She hopes to become a Crim, part of a cool clique that will help her feel like she belongs, but at the party where they plan to vote, a mysterious stranger appears and starts a chain of events that will change everything.

I still enjoyed all of the characters, but felt it took to long to get to something exciting. I was so aggrivated by the ending too! Will Tally ever get free?
