Yet again Kim Harrison brings an action filled book that really makes you want to know what happens next (I happen to love Jenks). However, I think I have finally put my finger on what irritates me about the writing - a lack of follow up on details. At one point, someone attacks Jenks and he is passed out, maybe dead. The attacker promises that Jenks will be fine but Jenks waking up is never detailed. Come on! I was worried! Other things are never detailed like what exactly is different physical ...more

This book is the fifth in the Rachel Morgan series, and boy, does it pack a wallop! Weres have been turning up dead in the Hollows, and when the FIB calls Rachel in to help the investigation, she comes to suspect the murders may be related to a cursed artifact in her possession. There's some good foreshadowing of the short lifespan of pixies, and the heroine doesn't seem to be blooming powers with every other chapter. Okay, so sometimes the sentence structure got to me. No matter. Kim writes with excellent concrete details that put you right into the story and get you believing in the Vamps, Weres, and Pixies.

Still love the magic and Jenks and Ceri and Algaliarept.
This is probably my favorite so far.
Rachel needs to do a little more growing and developing. The hint of more powers is not enough.
