After Jude lost her parents she grows up with her siblings in Faerie. But this land is not easy for humans. Jude gets tired of being bullied and wants to find her own way. Soon she finds herself in the middle of a power struggle for the next High King.

This book is mostly an adventure/spy story mixed with a little bit of romance. Lots of twist and turns and some surprises awaits the reader. It took me a little while to warm up to Jude but then I enjoyed her. She certainly has some flaws. Nothing ...more

So far I’ve read a lot of good books this year. However, Holly Black’s “The Cruel Prince” is by far one of the best YA books I had not only this year, but in a pretty long time.
I love the characters, who all have distinctive personalities and feel like real people. They are not the typical YA cut-out cardboard characters, but highly complex. I’m very excited to find out how their personalities might change and how they will grow over the course of this series.

Dieses Buch hat mich sprachlos zurückgelassen, mein Herz ist in tausend Stücke zersprungen und noch nicht wieder vollständig zusammengefügt worden. Ich habe einige Bücher von Holly Black gelesen, aber meiner Meinung nach hat die Autorin mit "The Cruel Prince" nun vollständig den internationalen Markt erobert.
