What Members Thought
I've read over a half dozen of Patterson's Alex Cross novels, and of those I've read this first one is the best. A lot of the reason I kept reading after this one is the protagonist detective, Alex Cross. He's likable and relatable here. He's a black detective and psychologist in Washington DC. One who doesn't want to leave the old neighborhood and raising two young children with his grandmother having lost his wife. The first book in the Alex Cross series was fascinating. It only compounds my love of Patterson's writing. The story: two children are kidnapped by a psychotic madman, or is he psychotic? Is he really a sociopath who cares nothing about being famous or is he a normal run-of-the-mill guy suffering severely from multiple personality disorder? Finally, a book with a twist I didn't see coming! Thrilling to the very end! The characters were believable. The constant need to know what was going to happen next kept me going. I read this book in 3 sittings! I just couldn't put it down.
