'Straight Shooter' has some of the hottest smut I've read in a while.

I haven't read either of the preceding books in the Read Entrance Video series, so I wasn't sure what to expect beyond the blurb. What I got was Austin Puett, a highly unlikable character at first glance. Part of his university hockey team, Austin is rude, mean, and homophobic. He was a stereotypical jock.

There are some things that are just not my kink, and humiliation is one of them. But this story made me believe and accept that for college hockey player Austin, insults and humiliation fill an aching, long-neglected need. I liked his obliviousness, his naiveté, and even his self-centered viewpoint. So there was a lot of things I enjoyed about this story, but mainly I have to say that I enjoyed the hell out of the MC's--their chemistry, their interactions, everything!

Like most followers of the series, after reading Apple Polisher and Wallflower I was curious about Austin.

I loved that Austin didn't fit any kind of mold. Kudos to Heidi Belleau for bringing his distinct personality, needs and emotions in a way that allowed me to understand where he was coming from.

Although I like it, the story left me a little confused. I had a hard time understanding Austin. Would have liked more backstory, maybe that would have given insight about him.

I can honestly say this would have been a five star book had Austin not been such a douche. Ugh. I like who he became at the end but that was too little too late.
