Finished this off tonite, by way of audio. I truly enjoyed it - all of it. I was really surprised at the way the end of the novel came around. I guess there's more - there's gotta be.

When looking for a pre-structured story to put one's spin on, fairytales are the first stop. Cinderella is a working class girl with evil, demanding stepsisters and stepmother, who attends a prince's ball.
However, Marissa Meyer hooks readers with her take of a cyborg in futuristic China. Cinder is the best mechanic in the Eastern Commonwealth, fixing her own body parts as well as portscreens...and Prince Kai's beloved android.

I liked this book. However, I think the review someone left (on the inner flap of the book) that says it's a cross between Cinderella, Star Wars and The Terminator is a bit out there. I picked it up partially based on that quote alone.
I want to tell you that if anything it reminds me of Cindrella + aspects (not the story) of Blade Runner. There are androids, there are people, and the main character who is trying to figure out where she lies: human or android.

Such a fantastic book. It is a marvelous retelling of Cinderella. I look forward to the next book in the series.

So much better than I expected. The writing was actually good! Especially compared to most of the other YA novels I've been reading lately. Secondly, the world building was fantastic. Although I don't have a good knowledge of Chinese culture (so I sadly can't comment on Meyer's portrayal of it in the book), I loved that a sci-fi YA novel finally had a global scale, rather than focusing only on America. Furthermore, Cinder was a wonderful, flawed protagonist (who doesn't like badass cyborgs), and

Cinder (book one of the Lunar Chronicles) takes place in a dystopian world 126 years post World War IV. Linh Cinder is a cyborg mechanic in New Beijing, capital of the Eastern Commonwealth. This is where she meets Crown Prince Kai, when he comes in her shop to have his android fixed. There is a mysterious deadly plague called Letumosis that’s sweeping the world, with no known cure. The emperor has been recently infected, leaving the Prince desperate to find an antidote while also preparing to ta

Unexpectedly fun and fabulous read. Just a great time in which the world is engrossingly imaginative and where Cinder is a great character to follow. Storyline was, of course, very predictable, but that comes with fairytale re-tellings and the story moved at such a quick pace that it wasn't too grating. Also, I really loved the ending!

While it did manage to hold my attention, everything was really just meh.

It wasn't exceptional but it was quite entertaining.
