This is the eighth book in J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood series. This series is absolutely mind-pleasing, action packed, and full of romance and love. This one is by far my absolute favorite so far….I hate to put Books 1-7 in 2nd place (yes, they are all in 2nd place) but John and Xhex absolutely captivated me, my mind, my heart, my everything.

Book 7, “Lover Mine” is the story of John Matthew, everyone’s favorite Darius incarnate, and Xhex, half vampire – half symphath. My review of them This is the eighth book in J.R. This one is by far my absolute favorite so far….I hate to put Books 1-7 in 2nd place (yes, they are all in 2nd place) but John and Xhex absolutely captivated me, my mind, my heart, my everything.

Book 7, “Lover Mine” is the story of John Matthew, everyone’s favorite Darius incarnate, and Xhex, half vampire – half symphath. My review of them won’t be really long as I don’t want to provide spoilers. If I write too much about this absolutely awesome installment of the BDB spoilers are bound to pop up. So on that note, let me just state that this book churned up so much emotion in me that I felt like I was there, in the book, watching as if I were a fly on the walls. The story of John and Xhex was wrought with denial, revenge, lust, hatred, sympathy, and most of all, love. Both John and Xhex have skeletons in their closets, things in their past that they are ashamed of, and are hellbent on taking down a mutual source of some of their pain – Lash – oh yes, you remember Lash? Well, he’s back…back with a vengeance and full of malice and predatory abuse. I love how John is able to pull certain things out of Xhex. There is also an inner monologue throughout the book that features Darius and Tohr that just had me squealing in excitement and concluded the book exactly the way it should have ended. I’m getting the chills just remembering these things.

There is a lot of Blay and Quinn in this installment, which makes total sense since they are John’s buddies and Quinn being his protector. Blay has come to terms with his orientation and wished that Quinn was on the same page so-to-speak. Quinn, on the other hand, still dreams of marrying into the upper crust of the glymera. That is, until Quinn’s cousin Saxton, makes a move on Blay and Blay, sick of being tormented by Quinn’s insensitivity, responds in kind.

Additionally, we also get to see John and Tohr interact throughout the book. We are also introduced a little bit more to Payne, V’s twin sister.

Another fantastic installment of our favorite sexy vamps of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. As with the rest of the books, “Lover Avenged” isn’t solely based around the hero or heroine of the day. We still get the everyday actions of the entire clan and whoever may be your favorite.
