BLAH.

Someone recommended this book to me because I liked VA. I just got done with this book..I came here to see WHY people liked it. It was a freakin' waste of my time & money.

This is the first book in J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood series. My sister had been telling me for over a year that I absolutely HAD to read them. I always found other books that seemed to be more important—and I could kick myself in the ass for waiting so long to start them. This series is absolutely mind-pleasing, action packed, and full of romance and love.

Book 1, “Dark Lover”, introduces us to the Brotherhood, with the main focus being on Wrath. He is the last vampire with a pure bloodline. When his brother, Darius, comes to him about his daughter and her ½ vamp bloodline and asks Wrath to protect her he refuses….until respect and duty ultimately win and he finds himself unable to stay away from Beth.

Beth, on the other and, doesn’t understand why the tall dark stranger, that wears sunglasses all the time, won’t leave her alone. She’s drawn to him even though she senses his aura of dangerousness. She unintentionally involves Butch, a local cop, which is a whole different story…literally.

All throughout the story, the vampires also deal with their hunters, the Lessers--baby powder fresh and willing to die for the Omega’s cause. It’s important to keep the civilian vampires safe and to do that takes the Brotherhood into dangerous situations and continuously risking their lives.

I was hooked by the end of the first chapter—probably more like the middle of the first page….

Shelves: vampire, paranormal, romance, urban-fantasy

I started this book on a whim. As a member of PNR I was seeing it mentioned EVERYWHERE. So it really got me curious as to what was the deal.

O. M. G. This book got me and didn't let me go! Its rare for me to blitz a book of this size in one day anymore, but I started it and I simply could not put it down. Now I am scrambling to try and get the next book in the series! I am extremely happy I picked this book up just to see what the buzz was all about.

I'm so glad that I was a late-comer to Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series. That just meant that I got to read six (or was it seven?) books back-to-back-to-etc.

The first book in the series, Dark Lover sets the pace and tone for all of the books in the series. We are introduced to the king of the vampires, Wrath, and the rest of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. Each of the richly-written characters in the books has at least one notable character flaw, which simply makes the reader love them more. ...more
