So, I haven't read Ready Player One, which just about everybody seems to compare this to. Austin Grossman has a really interesting Wikipedia page, where I learned he has been involved in such industry gems as Deus Ex, Thief: Deadly Shadows, and Dishonored. He's also been involved in the amazingly bad Jurassic Park: Trespasser (highly recommend the Let's Play) and the game that killed the Tomb Raider franchise, Tomb Raider: Legend. The positives outweigh the negatives. This book definitely has a bit of a Ready Player One vibe, and I loved the era in which it was set: the dawn and growth of the computer game age. I remember the two computers my junior high school had: both Pet 1000s. I remember hacking out text adventure games in BASIC code, and I remember how each technological leap changed games on computers.

There is simultaneously a great deal and seemingly nothing going on at any given time in "You." I'm pretty sure I need a second read to fully appreciate everything Grossman is doing in this novel, but I'm not particularly motivated to go through it again.
