The Windup Girl had been recommended to me by every online Book related service I belong to, and maybe ad campaigns. And by George am I glad I finally relented. It was everything I love. Weird, but believable tech evolution. Strange remade world, close enough to our own, and yet this Thailand is oh so very different. Sailing ships and high-tech kinetic wind up machines. What a fantastic book. Bacigalupi writes a dense text that contains many shocking details and clues to a near-future world that seems seems unfortunately all too possible.
