"He thought that in the history of the world it might even be that there was more punishment than crime but he took small comfort from it."

Cormac McCarthy's writing style could generously be called "sparse." There is a minimum of proper noun usage, punctuation, and any other "silly little marks" as he is wont to say. This provides for an unfamiliar cadence but never subtracts from the pulse-pounding effect of the most important component of any novel: a story with heart.

I don't know what all the hype is about. It was boring and predictable. I guess after all of the post-apocalyptic shows and stories out already, this one just didn't offer anything different. ...more
