Very interesting. All the characters are complex - nobody is a complete hero, although there may be some complete villains. Ready to move on to book 2 and see how these threads will come together.
A fast-paced fantasy & page-turner w/ a more traditional, un-tolkienish writing style.
I hate books that don't let you just hang out with one character's perspective. More than not, you love one of the characters and hate one character and then get pissed off when the author switches who you are following. I also could not figure out where this story was going at all. Some people make excuses like 'oh, well it's in a series so he's just setting it up' but this is no excuse to be boring 120 pages in. No, I don't care how good you get at the end. Listen to your editor and RE-WORK yo

Promising start to trilogy, really got into the book in the second half..... interested in checking out the 2nd in the series.
MAY 2014 Awesome, gritty fantasy book that throws many conventions to the wind. Great characters, fast plot, great read, can't wait to read the next.
