What Members Thought
This book never gets old no matter how many times I read it. It is one of the greatest and loveliest of all fantasy novels, and should be read by all who love to read books. Le Guin is at her best here, with prose as lovely as any I have seen, and a story that is compelling and fascinating and deep. I love the characters and I especially love the first half of the book. It is perhaps too short and quick, but it still manages to fulfill its promises.
I read this book super fast because it was fantastic, a real fantasy with wizard and dragons and sorcerers and shadows, to sum up the best of the best and now I will go straight to the second!
This book was pretty entertaining. It followed many of the familiar archetypal fantasy motifs one is used to: coming of age/hero's journey story with a wise mentor etc. I love the use of familiar archetypes in stories because they are universal and remain effective and entertaining in everything. I read this book as a comparison to Harry Potter in university as it follows many similar patterns.
