A quest tale I can't believe I missed all these years. I think it was because my father once dissed Ursula K. Le Guin, though I can't imagine he wouldn't have enjoyed this book.

Of course, it's probably better that I came to this book (and the rest of the series which I am now determined to read) as an adult in middle age. There is a grandeur of character that many an adolescent may grasp, but that would have been beyond my faux cynicism. A lovely and wise book this is and one I will revisit many
