I thoroughly enjoyed this fusion of 2 different genres. Two of my favourite things, Apocalyptic fiction mashed-up with a Crime Thriller. What is not to like?

And it worked perfectly for me. Neither element by itself is particularly unique or original but add the two parts together and you end up with something better than the constituent parts.

The crime story reminded me very much of the work of many of my favourite authors and our protagonist is very much in the mould of a Harry Bosch. A detect
