My Cover Thoughts: The reason why I picked up the book was because of the cover. You see a girl on there with this long hair blowing every where and she is dressed in this white gown. You look at it and you say what the heck? What kind of book is this? Then you flip to the back and read the small blurb and you are hooked!

My Thoughts/Review: Juliette doesn’t know who she is. She has never been told wha Warning: This book is FANTASTIC! MIND BLOWING! BLOOD PUMPING PURE ADRENALINE!

My Thoughts/Review: Juliette doesn’t know who she is. She has never been told what she can do and why she can do it. Her family has turned their back on her and so has the system. Until one day she meets a boy with the most piercing blue eyes she has ever seen and she can’t help but get lost in them. What she does not know is that he just may be her ticket to freedom.

Everyone wants to use Juliette as a weapon but all she wants is to be left alone. She does not want revenge on the people who abandoned her or the people who hurt her. All she wants is to live a normal life. But who can do that when there is a war going on and she is stuck right in the middle of it. She will have to learn how to trust people if she is going to survive.

Tahereh has done an excellent job of weaving together a story of love, betrayal, and sacrifice. This story had me on the edge of my seat saying OMG that just did not happen did it? Where are they going? What are they doing? I loved this so much I sent a copy to my girls JoJo and Bella! Lord girls I hope you love it like I did! Happy reading everyone because this book is going to leave you speechless and wanting more! I NEED the second book like ASAP! Lord the ending was just enough to keep you breathless until the second one comes out next year I hope.

Memorable Quotes: Page 52 Warner talking to Juliette: “I know your secret, Juliette. I know why you’re in here. Your entire life is documented in hospital records, complaints to authorities, messy lawsuits, public demands to have you locked up.”

Advice: THIS IS A MUST READ! THIS SERIES IS GOING TO BE EPIC!

Anyway, I read this one a super long time ago because my amazing friend gave it to me for my birthday, and while I didn't write a review on it, I'm kind of guessing that I enjoyed it because of the 5-star rating I gave it on Goodreads. I never actually continued with the series, and in a desperate attempt to avoid spoilers FOR LIFE, I'm actually trying to get through series that I've neglected over time. Well, it's the same case as was my re-read of Fallen–I understand why I loved it so much back then, but now I have some problems with the book. Doesn't mean I didn't hate it! I enjoyed a lot of the story, but there were just a few issues I had with the book here and there.

Okay, so I'm kind of half-and-half on the writing. On one hand, it's beautiful. I love the descriptions, because sometimes they're really something else. However, flowery language shouldn't be confused for good language. I feel like a lot of it was overdone and overly descriptive when it didn't need to be. With emotions, sure. But for every single movement? Not necessary. I didn't really need to know how every action that Adam made affected Juliette. It was also kind of repetitive, which was kind of annoying, so I'm hoping that the rest of the series sorts that out. I did like the style of writing though, with the crossed out parts–it made reading Shatter Me a different experience.

As for the characters, I can't say that I have any complaints. Other than the slightly irritating voice of Juliette through the descriptions, I think they all were pretty solid. I liked Juliette, I liked Adam, I loved to hate Warner (I've heard whispers of spoilers of him later in the series, so I'm curious to see how it all plays out), so it was pretty good all around. I LOVED Kenji though, I gotta say. I love a hilarious character in the midst of a serious situation, and I remember loving him the first time I read this book, too.

What I missed in this book, however, was the world building. Like, what even happened to this world? On one hand, the mystery sort of adds to it, but when the characters are sort of running around here and there, it's like um–what does this scene even look like? How's the state of everything on the outside??? World-building is definitely a must for dystopian books because they distort the reality we live in to present potential problems, so give us a visible setting to visualise it clearly please!

All in all, I'm super excited to continue on with the series. I finally get to see what all the hype was about, and finish one of the big, blockbuster series that EVERYONE used to talk about. Shatter Me, despite my thoughts on the writing and somewhat lack of world building, is a promising start to a series, and I know I'm in for an emotional and thrilling ride. ...more

This novel took me a while to get into it. I would say I struggled through the first 60-90 pages to find the flow of the book and whether I was going to like it or not. I’m glad I stuck with it, because once Warner came into the picture, things really took off for me.

The writing style is very different. It’s not like any other book I’ve ever read, which totally makes it stand out amongst the sea of YA novels out there. And the plot line is strange. Strang ...more

I have been sitting for a maybe 3/4 days trying to do this review and I have come to the conclusion that it probably isn't going to happen. I adore this book so much that I actually can't form the words to give this the type of review it deserves. Now this doesn't happen to me that often. Usually when I am in love with a book I can gush forever. But this completely blew me away that I have no word!! However, here goes.

Shatter Me is about Juliette a 17 year old girl who has a power that if she touches someone they could die. She has been locked up for 264 days. With no human contact, until one day she gets cellmate; Adam who has a hidden secret. And Juliette's life is turned upside down as The Reestablishment want to her weapon.

The plot, the setting, the characters, the cover!. OMG. I feel in love straight away with the story that Tahereh Mafi has created. The wrting style does take a bit getting used to as its quite different but brilliant! Juliette has such an unique voice that really makes her stand out against your typical YA heroine. She is fragile yet very fierce when she needs to be. I adore her. Trying to describe her is hard without giving away spoilers but she reminds of Rogue for Xmen with the curse power she has. When we are introduced to Adam, her cellmate. Once again I fell in love. Especially the more the story continues and the more we learn about him and his past.

Shatter Me really did lived up to my expectations and more. The plot is totally different and quite dark at times which I find fantastic. I love my books dark.

YA Dystopian is my thing just now, and even though I haven't read many of them, Shatter Me is probably in my top 5 because it is so unique and fast paced and thrilling that I just couldn't put this book down. Tahereh Mafi has created a flawless debut that is so beautifully written it will completely mesmerize the readers from start to finish. And no doubt blow you away and leave you speechless like me!

Juliette has been isolated from mankind for 264 excruciating days.

She has been known for her lethal touch that could kill a living person, for that, she has been called a freak and was abandoned by her parents. Never known of love and intimacy, it is a wonder why she hasn't fall into the depths of desperation and despair. It is a wonder why she hasn't lose her sanity and haven't stopped hoping.

I loved the story and I loved Adam and Juliette. I couldn't put this down and read it all in one go. This story is addicitve and fast paced and full of romance. I loved the relationship that forms between them, the idea of the story wasn't entirely new (Thinks of Rogue from X-Men) but the writing made it feel like a totally unique world.

I loved the story and I loved Adam and Juliette. I couldn't put this down and read it all in one go. This story is addicitve and fast paced and full of romance. I loved the relationship that forms between them, the idea of the story wasn't entirely new (Thinks of Rogue from X-Men) but the writing made it feel like a totally unique world.

I loved James! How cute, I love how protective Adam is of him. Their relationship is something we all wish we had.. I thought it was funny when he found them sleeping together and he exclaims about Adam touching a girl! He is incredibly likeable and I'm sure he and Juliette will bond really easily. They get along well. And when he explains that Juliette is his girlfriend, that was another great moment.

The romance scenes in this book are amazing. I loved them, you could really imagine and feel how these characters were feeling. Juliette is so afraid of everyone and first and it's nice to see her finally open up to someone.

Warner!! EWWWW CREEEPY JACKASS!! I hate him, he makes me want to punch him in the face. He just continuely takes advantage of Juliette. I'm glad they ran away. She really needs to stay away from him. Especially since he can touch her! I had counted on her being safe (at least physically) from him at the least. I was horrified that he could touch her. She is a smart girl, even though she had me cringing when she makes out with him. ((To save her life, don't panic!!))

Kenji, (thinks thats the spelling, don't have the book in front of me) He is hilarious!! I love all the jokes he makes about Juliette being 'hot' or 'sexy' for a physco chick. I can see myself really liking him as a character. He seems like a cool guy to be friends with.

I am hanging out for the next book, since this has just been released I'm assuming it will take a while. *(Frowns)* This is another one of those series that makes you want more, and want it now. This is going to be a painfully long wait. ...more
