I am so ashamed of not picking this up earlier. I have been reading this book for the past 5 hours and I have just finished it. I am overwhelmed with emotion and I believe I have found one of my new all-time favourite books. In true Elena fashion, I'm watching the movie tonight, Hope it doesn't let me down all that much (although I know it will it is a book-to-movie adaptation. Anyways now about the book.

This book is on my top ten ever list. I graduated high school in the 80’s, so all of the references in it are fond memories for me. Well, not so much Rush, I was never a Rush fan, but I did occasionally eat Cap’n Crunch cereal.
I was sitting at a table at a charity event a few years ago with some random people, one of whom started talking about VR, and the next step. Of course, I asked him if he was making the Oasis, and off we went for hours talking about the book and how it could come to life. ...more

I loved this book so much. This world was so creative, complex and well executed! I really loved all of the 80’s and video games references, I would totally recommend this to a gamer or a fan of stranger things! The characters were great too. Finished the book in just two sittings!
The massive 80's pop culture references were the only bid I kinda had to skip through, but it didn't matter much to the story and the plot IMO.
If you're someone with a MMORPG experience you will connect with this book in an instant.

Loved all the 80s throwbacks, it really reminded me of my early teens with the music, movies, culture references. There were parts that definitely dragged but overall I enjoyed it and can't wait to see the movie. I am not a "Gamer" so don't let that hold you back, it was good!
