I bought the audio because the profile said it was being read by James Marsters. However, when I got it, it was not Marsters but John Glover. It was probably the worst reading I have ever heard, dull, with pauses where there really shouldn't be pauses and ridiculous inflections. He may be a good actor, but his audio skills need extreme improvement. I guess it didn't help that the material was awful... Jim Butcher slammed this one out with little apparent effort. Harry wakes up apparently dead, having been shot at the end of the last book. He accepts an assignment to solve his own murder and try to help his friends. Its a tough assignment given how few people can even see or hear him. He'll have to learn the new rules fast if he is to change their fate, but he's good at that. Ectomancer Mort and Bob play a much bigger role in this, a fact I greatly enjoyed. Harry gains some new perspective on how his friends are coping, even though he fears its too late. ...more

Odd...frustrating...interesting and clever! I really don't know how to rate this book. It is not one of my favorites, but the last few chapters make up for a lot, and I have to say that in the end, I did enjoy it.

As excited as I will be to read book #14 - Cold Days when it finally arrives, I am happy to have a bit of a break. It will be good to see Dresden again.

I was lukewarm on this story compared to the rest of the series. There were elements that were GREAT, but the overall story was somewhat depressing.

Still not my favorite, but enjoyed it better the second time around.
