Liked it. Probably 3.5 stars, because it was well-written. I like historical fiction and I'm often drawn toward the stories of resilience of WW2. The problem is that after a while, those stories all start to blend together. I can't say that this book was actually not as good as others I've read in the past, just that it wasn't different enough to really stand out.

Wow. I didn't know Kristen Hannah had that in her.

I was so sad I didn't enjoy this book. Kristin Hannah is one of my favorite authors and I love history and stories about WWII but this book I struggled to get through. I don't know why I couldn't get into this book. I enjoyed some of the parts of the story and the characters and I loved the parts of the present day but there was just something missing for me. Maybe when I don't have anything else to read I'll try to listen to the story to give it another shot.

Love historical fiction, but reading WWII historical fiction is heart retching. I am liking these recent WWII novels about women's roles during war. A beautiful story about family, love, and war.
