The beginning of this book sucked me in and didn't want to let me go. The story of Edmund Dantes, his arrest, his imprisonment and, most importantly, his escape was SPECTACULAR!! I was convinced very early on that this was not only going to be one of my favorite classics but one of my favorite books of all time. Then it all began to slide downhill.
