What Members Thought

this was the PERFECT audiobook to read about Halloween and when the weather was dark and gloomy

This is one of my all time favorite books! It's a psychological thriller and also a thrilling love story. This one will stay on my top 10 list for a really long time! Creepy Mrs. Danvers will always be an ultimate villain to me!

There's something about a first-person narrative that always satisfies me as a reader, especially when the narrator is an outsider or trying to fit in, with good or bad intentions notwithstanding. It's easier to feel some kinship, some loyalty to a character who is less than perfect. We do prefer suffering because it's familiar.

Really enjoyed it. Fantastic structure and writing made it impossible to put down. The contrast between the headstrong Rebecca and weedy narrator but the way they almost became one in spite of that was clever. Maxim remained rather mysterious all the way through to the end. Lots to ponder on and will stay with me for a long time.
