This book took me MONTHS to read. Not because I'm slow at reading but because I fell asleep every 5 pages and I ended up reading other things on the side to stay entertained. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad. I am glad I stuck it out because the last 4 chapters or so really made the book. I think Oscar Wilde could have skipped some of the events and description but I'm sure he had his reasons (though I don't know what they were). I can see why this was Oscar Wilde's only novel. I love the ability that Wilde to provide amazing descriptions that allowed me to feel exactly what the character felt. The book took me a while to get into, but once the story picked up it was good.

This story is about Dorian Gray and how changes into a cruel, corrupt & selfish encouraged by his "friend" Lord Henry and how society chooses not to believe that he posses these qualities simply because he is extremely handsome, comes from a respected family and is wealthy.
