This book could've been a lot shorter as there isn't an awful lot of plot or mystery. It has been padded out with descriptions of the moor, and at the time of reading I was on holiday near where it was set, and the scenery was nice but the moors weren't a patch on the Yorkshire moors or the Lake District. The coast of course is a different matter and is stunning. I also visited Jamaica Inn, as you can imagine it was a bit of a tourist trap but atmospheric from the outside, if you ignore the nois
