Terrific story about an astronaut who finds himself marooned on Mars with no hope of rescue for years. If that isn't enough to pique your interest, you may want to check to ensure you're not in a coma. Srsly.

Absolutely loved this book. There is a lot of math and it totally got my nerd on. The narrator for this audiobook was excellent and voiced the characters really well.
I haven't yet seen the movie, but now really want to as I've heard it doesn't stray much from the book. Mark Watney is a brilliant character that is ingenious, witty, sarcastic, and funny. I don't know exactly what I was expecting but what I got...amazing! Weir did a fantastic job in conveying Mark's fortitude, humour, resourcefulness, and ability to stay calm and function in the face of utter danger. The scenes back on Earth felt real and just as fraught with tension as Mark's Martian experience. I also liked the scenes of his crew mates on Hermes - I kinda wanted a little more of them, actually.
The entire book was just so much fun to read! I hope the film doesn't ruin this book ...more

This book is a unicorn. I had really high expectations and it exceeded them all. That just doesn't happen. You don't have to be a sci fi or space fan to enjoy this book, but it doesn't hurt if you're a bit of a geek. Great story all around. Humor, drama, cliff hangers, well rounded characters. Awesome. Going to watch for more by this author.
