This one still feels like a pivotal point in the series to me. Mac comes into her own more in this book. She becomes a little less dependent on the men in her life, and more self-sufficient. It's not easy because these men have advantages that she doesn't possess, but that doesn't stop her from trying. I've always loved that she was willing to stand toe-to-toe with these powerful beings.

This one was the best one of the series so far for me. I liked the first one but I wasn't wowed. But I had books 2 and 3 on audiobook from the library so I kept up with the series. I'm glad I did because I'm excited about reading the last 2 books after this one.
