#2 in the Fever series

I enjoyed this much more by reading it rather than listening since I could create the voices I imagined rather than the ones the narrator provided. This moves the story along nicely, letting us get to know Mac much better as she discovers more about herself and her capabilities. She overcomes some problems, but she also realizes she needs help with those she can't yet deal with. Mac is back and with each answer she finds out about her past an her abilities, she has more questions. Who does she trust throughout it all?

Barrons, who has saved her multiple times but his ability to answer a question with a question, not to mention he is sex on a stick but she quickly tames that desire when it enters her head.

Even though I just finished this book 5 minutes ago, I somehow have a hard time remember much of what happened. Isn't that ridiculous? I remember the final action stuff of course, but when I try to remember the beginning and middle, it's blurry to me and I can't remember what was the first book and what was the second.

I liked this book alright and I will continue the series, but I have a couple of gripes. One is how the ebooks have a glossary and a preview of the next book at the back taking up 20+ pages, so that I find myself turning the page and looking up in confusion that the book is suddenly over. It's clear that these books are written completely as a series and don't even try to stand alone.

The second gripe is a personal problem. Because the books are addictive like candy (very similar to the Sookie Stackhouse books), the moment I finish one, I'm ready to start another one. So imagine my frustration when I find after finishing the second book (having got both and the first and second ebooks from my library) that not only do they not have books 3 and 4 to borrow, but they for some inexplicable reason, they do have book 5!!! Why on earth would they buy book 5 and not the previous ones? So now I have to stop reading while I go get the physical copies from my library. Because I checked on Kobo's website and I sure as heck am not paying $8.99 for each one. I never pay that much for books and certainly not for something I can read through in a day. ...more
