Really more like 3.5/5.
This one was miiiiles better than Grave Peril to me. It certainly helped that I'm a sucker for all things fae, but I think the biggest thing this book had going for it over #3 was the lack of the forced love story between Harry and Susan. Or any love story, for that matter. It was nice to get back to good ol' fashion wizard detecting. Harry's infuriating white-knighting for any damsel in distress was also a lot less grating this time around. Sure, there were a few moments ...more

#4 in the Dresden Files paranormal series
I actually have a love/hate relationship with this series. I do love Harry and the other characters surrounding him. He's unassuming and always trying to do the right thing, even though he doesn't have a lot of finesse. But he also gets himself into all sorts of trouble, usually way over his head, and the plot gets very complicated, with a lot of moving parts that are more confusing than enjoyable for me. I kept hearing good things about James Marster's narration of this series and he certainly didn't disappoint! I did lose interest a bit in the endless action scenes towards the end.
