In the second book of this series, Harry Dresden is up against a hoard of rabid werewolves in various forms. I wanted to move on from the first of the series because I have had several people say that they do get better and better (although that's not to say I didn't enjoy number 1), but I think I was less impressed with this one. I just found it annoying how yet again, Murphy assumes Dresden is involved with the murders and yet again she is trying to arrest him, and yet again he is escaping out

I was pleasantly surprised with this book since I hated the first book in the series. I read a short story about Harry Dresden and liked it a lot so i thought I'd give this series another try. I'm glad I did, though I hardly need another series to read.
Wizard Harry Dresden is the strongest (and possibly the only) wizard in the Chicago area. He consults for the special investigations division of the police department. Detective Karrin Murphy is the only one who believes that Harry is a wizard and ...more

Book on CD performed by James Marsters.
Harry Dresden is a wizard and private investigator in Chicago. When Karrin Murphy, director of the Special Investigations Unit, seeks his assistance with a gruesome murder he and she immediately run afoul of the FBI and a variety of werewolves. Who knew there was more than one kind of werewolf?

I really dislike Murphy

Such rockin' fun read!
After things resolved in such explosive inferno in book 1, Harry Dresden, has lost the trust of his friend, Special Investigator Murphy. So thing have been rather quiet... dead quiet, in fact, that he's been forced on instant noodles diet. But, it didn't really mean that the bad guys have been quiet... Harry has just been left out of the loop. To get this sorted out though, they're going to need his help. Harry, being his usual self, kept certain things to himself, managed ...more

I enjoyed this book much more than the first one in the series, in part because James Marsters does a nice job with the narration on the audio version and also I've realized that this is one of those series where you just have to sit back and accept the plot holes and inconsistencies. Someone, or something, is ripping people apart during the full moon in Chicago. Only the local wizard Harry Dresden believes it could really be a werewolf. As usual, his police partner his more hindrance than help

Listened to this book after so many people raved about this audiobook. James Marsters was Spike in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but without his accent. He really does a nice job on the audiobook!

This is the second book in the series featuring Harry Dresden the only openly practicing wizard in the U.S. Dresden is asked by Lieutenant Murphy to investigate a grisly death that Dresden ends up believing is connected to werewolves. Poor harry gets beat up a lot more in this book than I remember happening in the first book. I like the way the author balances humor with a serious message about battling evil. I've heard t he series only gets better so I'm looking forward to reading more of them.

I really don't like the narrator. Next time I'll try the print version of the book.
